Grown in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, a cool-climate region near Walker Bay, the Chardonnay vines benefit from the low-vigour, stony, clay-rich, shale-derived soils typical of the estate. These conditions contribute to the tight structure and intense flavors that characterize Hamilton Russell wines. The 2023 growing season was particularly cool, enhancing the natural acidity and freshness of the wine.
