Gustave Lorentz
The Lorentz family has been making wine since 1836 in the heart of the Alsace which lies in the northeast corner of France along the Rhine River. Charles Lorentz Sr. grandfather of the current president of Gustave Lorentz developed his vineyards on the hills of Altenberg de Bergheim in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains which has grown to 85 acres in this extraordinary terroir with four acres planted on the hills of the Grand Cru Kanzlerberg and 30 acres in the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim.
Description
Colour: The wine's appearance is a brilliant, pale gold, radiating purity and elegance in the glass. Nose: The nose is a symphony of aromas, marked by intense citrus notes, particularly bright and zesty lemon and lime, along with white flower blossoms and subtle mineral undertones. The terroir's limestone-rich soil imparts distinct mineral and flinty characteristics to the wine. Taste: On the palate, the 'Altenberg de Bergheim' Riesling offers a compelling array of flavors. It is crisp and vibrant, presenting lively citrus flavors intertwined with green apple, peach, and a prominent stony minerality. Finish: The wine's well-balanced acidity and complexity contribute to a long and satisfying finish.
