GM & Ahrens
In 1835 a young man called Manuel María González Angel arrived in Jerez intent on making a name for himself in the thriving and lucrative sherry business. Encouraged by the consistent growth in exports that same year he purchased a small winery and began to produce and export his own wines. This was the start of Bodegas Tío Pepe which due to the firm’s increasing success became the González Byass company soon afterwards. Today Bodegas Tío Pepe is known around the world as one of the leading producers of sherry and Brandy de Jerez.
Description
On the palate the wine spreads, citrus and bite and lots of minerality on the roof of your mouth then a fuller texture of gun metal and wet pebbles at the back and then on swallowing the gentle warmth and fatness of Pinot Noir with a hint of red berries. Not disjointed, but separate; distinguishable and with the backbone of Chardonnay holding it tight. The after effect is as noticeable as the first sip.
Food Pairing
A wine to enjoy before a meal or between courses to replace the cut of a sorbet or even with a lemon tart to follow. A premium product (the packaging alone tells you nothing has been compromised on here) for special occasions.
