GM & Ahrens
In 1835 a young man called Manuel María González Angel arrived in Jerez intent on making a name for himself in the thriving and lucrative sherry business. Encouraged by the consistent growth in exports that same year he purchased a small winery and began to produce and export his own wines. This was the start of Bodegas Tío Pepe which due to the firm’s increasing success became the González Byass company soon afterwards. Today Bodegas Tío Pepe is known around the world as one of the leading producers of sherry and Brandy de Jerez.
Description
Shimmeringly pale, just a hint of lemon yellow and green-gold tinge, the mousse is delicate, doesn’t foam as much as murmer on the surface. Bubbles are persistent, some quite large others miniscule from all around the Riedal glass (the only way to enjoy this MCC). The nose is refined too, not richly yeasty as expected from more than four years on its lees, more subtle, evolving slowly. Aromas are fresh suggesting zesty acidity then follows a heavier, stone fruit note, especially ripe peach, and a hint of lemon butter.
Food Pairing
A wine to enjoy before a meal or between courses to replace the cut of a sorbet or even with a lemon tart to follow. A premium product (the packaging alone tells you nothing has been compromised on here) for special occasions.
