Chateauneuf Du Pape Laurus 2017

This wine pairs exceptionally well with rich and flavorful dishes. Recommended pairings include pigeon with Ventoux truffle and stuffed porcini mushrooms.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from select parcels in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Grenache grapes come from the "La Crau" sector, characterized by rolled pebbles on high Quaternary terraces, contributing structure and amplitude. Syrah grapes are grown on Cretaceous clay-limestone soils, adding elegance and finesse.

Approximately 60% of the cuvée was aged for 16 months in 275-liter "Laurus" French oak barrels, developed in collaboration with cooper Dargaud & Jaegle. These barrels are designed to refine the wine's structure and enhance its complexity.

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo partial destemming and crushing. The fermentation process includes a three-week maceration with punch-downs and pumping over to extract color, flavor, and tannins. This meticulous vinification process aims to preserve the wine's elegance and balance.

Delicious and savoury from day one: this is the commitment of our Gabriel Meffre signature wines. For each appellation and in keeping with the characteristics of the vintage our know-how is recognisable through our experienced blending of terroirs and grape varieties and through our careful maturing favouring purity of fruit and silkyness of texture. Already enjoyable in their first year after bottling the Crus also have good aging potential.
