Edouard Delaunay
Founded in 1893, Edouard Delaunay is an old House with a rich and singular history that contributed significantly to the development of Burgundy throughout the 20th century. It was bought at the end of 2017 by the founder's great-grandson, Laurent Delaunay, an oenologist and wine entrepreneur, with the aim of restoring its position among the great names of Burgundy. Starting with the 2017 vintage, Maison Edouard Delaunay offers a selection of around thirty vintages concentrated on the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, ranging from regional appellations to Grands Crus. Precise, subtle, well-balanced wines, without excess, for the most demanding wine lovers and enthusiasts throughout the world.
Description
Lovely red colour. Highly complex nose boasting great finesse, it is both fruity and floral (red berries, rose, wild strawberry), followed by spicier notes (gingerbread) and a hint of Russian leather. Soft, harmonious and velvety on the palate. The fruit is complemented by warmer flavours of chocolate truffle and a touch of sucrosity (caramel, pastries), enhanced by a hint of liquorice. This is a very pleasing wine; both supple and fresh, subtle and delicate. Tasting it is like eating a candy.
