Forming part of the highest lying vineyards in South Africa the oldest farm in the Cederberg has been home to the Du Toit family for five generations. The cool mountain air and rocky soil create a unique Cederberg terroir. Collectively with David Nieuwoudt from neighbouring Cederberg Wines wines with a distinct style and character are produced.
Description
Dark brooding purple black colour alludes to the opulent nose of ripe plums and mulberries and a kaleidoscope of black fruits and berries. The palate is surprisingly linear and savoury with black pepper spiciness and herbaceous edge. Refreshing acidity holds the ripe fruit at bay and together with the subtle tannins renders a focused wine of opulence and intrigue. A complex wine that reveals more with every sip!
Food Pairing
Pair it with Bold red meat dishes such as rack of lamb or grilled T-Bone steaks and even rich dishes such as Oxtail Ravioli or game ‘potjie’ cooked in red wine. Try it with a range of vegetarian dishes including wild mushroom arancini or smoked Aubergine dip. Harder styled aged cheeses will also be the perfect partner.
