Domaine Jamet
Jean-Paul Jamet began making wine alongside his father Joseph in 1976. He left school to start working with his parents in the family business. Together they developed the vine-growing and wine-making work but Jean-Paul quickly took the initiative and made decisions. With the experience of making forty wines he was convinced that the beauty of the wines lay in the terroirs. Having been away from any successive methods he promoted the different expressions of Côte Rôtie to increase their complementary features.
Description
"The 2022 Condrieu Vernillon fermented and matured entirely in amphorae. Loïc Jamet reported that previous samples aged in stainless steel tanks felt rather closed, while aging in old oak vessels made the wines too broad-shouldered. Amphorae served as a smart compromise, infusing their Condrieu with ample freshness while preventing any oak-derived aromas. Indeed, the 2022 Condrieu Vernillon bursts with sapid white peach, apricot, spring blossom and lemon flesh aromas. Medium-bodied with a hint of saltiness on the bright finale, this is a delicious white that should be enjoyed over the next three years." – Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous
