Vouvray Sec

This Vouvray Sec pairs well with dishes such as duck à l'orange, Asian-inspired salads, and mild, soft creamy cheeses. Its bright acidity and fruit-forward profile complement a variety of cuisines.

Domaine du Margalleau is situated in the Vaux Valley of Calvados, within the Loire Valley's Vouvray appellation. The estate spans 30 hectares, with vines averaging 40 years of age, planted on chalky clay and siliceous soils. These conditions contribute to the distinctive minerality and complexity of their Chenin Blanc wines.

The wine is aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for six months prior to bottling, which contributes to its complexity and mouthfeel.

Grapes are harvested by hand and pressed immediately. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Dry wines are aged on fine lees in tank for six months before bottling, enhancing texture and depth.

Domaine du Margalleau has 26 hectares planted entirely in chenin blanc and produces all four varieties of Vouvray plus a sparkling wine. Jean Michel and Bruno Pieaux are the fourth generation from this family to be producing these wines. The vineyard is south facing and sits on the edge of the Loire River and the vines are planted in soft soils known as Tuffeau.
