“The 2018 Pinot Noir La Côte is a dark, somber wine. Huge swaths of tannin wrap around a core of blue and purplish fruit. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2018 is not at all forthcoming. This is an especially brooding, potent style. Time in the glass brings out hints of lavender, sage and dried herbs, but the 2018 is in no mood of showing all its cards right now..”AG

Organic. La Côte blankets a steep southeast-facing hillside on the leeward slope of our domaine. Unimpeded by the inexorable winds that confront Bloom’s Field and Memorious to the west, la Côte enjoys more optimal pollination and less shatter. The vineyard possesses the most heterogeneous soils of our estate: its bedrock varies from Monterey Shale to Diatomaceous Earth to alluvium, and the associated soils range from shallow and rocky - with a plethora of broken stones - to rich and homogenous downslope.

Domaine de la Côte consists of five vineyards, exclusively planted to California heritage selection clones of Pinot Noir. The property is owned by famed sommelier Raj Parr and winemaker Sashi Moorman who also collaborate at the Sandhi winery (where fruit is sourced via grower partners). The vineyards of Domaine de la Côte were established in 2007 to high density at elevation in the far western reaches of the Sta Rita Hills. In a short period, these ltd volume, single vineyard expressions have become some of the most revered and sought-after of the region.
