Echezeaux Grand Cru

Delicious with pork cassoulet with crusty bread.

Pascal and Charles Lachaux look after a thin, 0.7 hectares strip of vines in the Les Rouges du Bas climat. This lieu-dit stretches high up the Côte alongside 1er Les Beaux Monts. There is very little topsoil before the vines hit the hard limestone (similar to that found in Premeaux), so the wine offers tremendous finesse, perfume and texture. A wine to remind us why the vines of Echezeaux (and Flagey in general) have so often been grouped with those of Vosne. Serious seduction and class on offer here.

The name Arnoux has been a feature in Vosne Romanée since the mid-19th century. Since the early 1990s Robert Arnoux's son-in-law Pascal Lachaux has been running the estate and in 2009 Pascal and Florence have at long last made the subtle change in the naming of the Domaine. Pascal has indeed proved himself to be a hugely talented winemaker and his drive and ambition have ensured that the Domaine is now regarded amongst the top tier in Vosne-Romanée.
