Malbec

This Malbec pairs beautifully with venison and spicy risotto, its rich fruit and spice balancing the robust flavors of these dishes.

The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness from the Durbanville vineyards, which benefit from the region’s cool maritime climate. This climate allows the fruit to develop slowly, enhancing flavor concentration.

The wine was aged for 14 months in 20% new 500L French oak barrels. This oak maturation contributes to the wine’s structure and adds subtle complexity.

Fermentation took place in open fermenters, with punch-downs and pump-overs every 3-4 hours at controlled temperatures of 25°C to 28°C. Malolactic fermentation (MLF) was completed in tanks before the wine was racked into 500L French oak barrels.

Diemersdal is a Durbanville wine estate with six generations of Louw family winemaking behind it, dating back to 1885. Part of Wine of Origin Cape Town, the estate is shaped by cooling Atlantic mist and is best known for expressive Sauvignon Blanc, cool-climate reds and a clear Durbanville signature.
