A small family winery at the end of the Upper Blaauwklippen Road in the mountains above Stellenbosch South Africa. Established in 1992 by architect David Trafford & artist wife Rita with the focus on high end red wines of great intensity & longevity using minimal intervention production methods.
Description
Beautiful burnt gold colour. Intense dark honey and apricot nose with nutty, waxy aspects and a range of spices such as cinnamon and cardamom. Strong maturation character from 3 ½ years in barrel – almost double the usual time. The intense palate is sweet and concentrated. Thick and unctuous with a clean steely finish and nutty aftertaste.
Food Pairing
This wine is a dessert all on its own - a real treat after the meal. Delicious with biscotti and various nuts.
