Groendruif Semillon

Grilled fish, roast chicken, shellfish or creamy vegetable dishes.

Fruit comes from the Laing family's Trekpoort farm in the Skurfberg Mountains near Clanwilliam. The metre-high bush vines were planted in 1956 in coarse red sand over clay and decomposed sandstone. The 2025 season delivered vigorous, healthy canopies and even ripening after good winter rainfall.

Spent 8 months on the lees before blending and bottling.

Fruit travelled about 260 km to the cellar in refrigerated trucks, was cooled overnight, hand-sorted and whole-bunch pressed. Spontaneous fermentation took place in 61% stainless steel, 22% concrete egg and 17% third-fill 500L French oak; the barrel component completed spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

This is a range created in recognition of the Cape of Good Hope’s vinous heritage which stretches back more than 350 years when the first Governor of the Cape planted grapes. These unique wines are the result of irreplaceable parcels of old vines and site specific terroirs. The labels reflect the grape variety as well as the origin and singular characters behind them.
