Pinotage

The Beyerskloof Pinotage 2023 pairs exceptionally well with beef, game meats like venison, and grilled poultry. It's also versatile enough to complement hearty vegetable dishes​.

Beyerskloof’s vineyards are situated in Stellenbosch, an area known for its rich, well-drained soils. The 2023 growing season was characterized by moderate temperatures, which allowed for a steady ripening process and optimal fruit quality​.

The wine was matured in oak for around 12 months. This aging process in second- and third-fill barrels allowed subtle cedar and spice notes to develop without overpowering the fresh fruit​.

The fermentation took place in open fermenters over 4-5 days with manual punch-downs to extract color and tannin. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months, using a mix of second- and third-fill barrels, allowing the fruit to shine without being overwhelmed by oak​.

Since planting the first vineyards in Stellenbosch more than thirty years ago, we have become one of the leading red wine producers in South Africa with an unrivalled love for Pinotage.
