Champagne Duval-Leroy: Inspired by family passion

A true “Femme de Champagne”
By

Rooted in shared passion from the very beginning, the Duval-Leroy house was formed in 1859 when two Champagne families united to marry names, craft and vision. Since this creation, the house has been located in Vertus, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, devoted to the production and excellence of Chardonnay.

Now in its 6th generation, the recent history of the house has been heralded by Carol Duval-Leroy since 1991. The Belgium born, propelled to the head of the house due to the untimely passing of her husband, rose to the challenge and became a true “Woman of Champagne”. Thanks to her dedication, strength, leadership and pursuit of excellence, countless awards endorsed her success to establish the house amongst the most prestigious. She appointed the skilled cellarmaster Sandrine Logette-Jardin to form a power-duo early on. Today, her three sons, Julien, Charles and Louis, have become involved in the running of the operation to prepare for the next generational handover. An independent spirit, the house has remained one of the few still 100% family-owned and has been an innovating force in Champagne, being a pioneer in sustainable viticulture, and sustainability in their operations. It is now a reference in the Champagne region in terms of respect for the environment in its vineyards, having been the first Champagne house to have been certified HVE, ISO 9002, as well as to produce a certified organic cuvée.

Behind innovation, sustainability and a relentless drive for high-quality, the predominance of Chardonnay from their 200 hectares gives a signature subtlety, lightness and elegance to their cuvées.

Carol also inspired the crafting of the Prestige Cuvée, a tribute to this strong woman at the helm of the house, a quintessence of finesse and balance aged for a minimum of 8 years and much longer for vintage versions.

All over the world, the word champagne is aspirational, synonymous with happy occasions, and joyful celebrations. It single-handedly represents French art de vivre, and Carol can justifiably be proud of making a contribution that has commanded such admiration and joy across the globe.
