Wine & Soul is a highly respected winery located in the heart of the Douro Valley, Portugal's most renowned wine region. It was founded in 2001 by the husband-and-wife team of Jorge Serôdio Borges and Sandra Tavares da Silva, both accomplished winemakers with extensive experience in the Douro. Their goal was to create wines that express the traditional terroir and grape varieties of the region with a modern touch. Wine & Soul started with a single vineyard called Pintas, situated in the Pinhão Valley, known for its old vines and diverse blend of over 40 indigenous grape varieties. Over time, the estate expanded to include other notable vineyards, including Quinta da Manoella, which features vines that are over 100 years old. The winery is known for its commitment to natural farming practices, avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and using traditional methods like foot-treading grapes in granite lagares. Their wines, such as Pintas, Pintas Character, and Guru, are critically acclaimed for their depth, complexity, and reflection of the unique Douro terroir. Wine & Soul's dedication to quality and innovation has made it one of the standout producers in Portugal's wine industry.
