Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

The full-bodied structure of this Cabernet Sauvignon makes it a great match for hearty dishes such as grilled meats, game, or rich stews, as well as dishes with creamy or buttery sauces​.

The grapes are sourced from Vergelegen’s Rooiland and Stonepine vineyards in Stellenbosch. These north to northwest-facing vineyards are planted on granite, Hutton, and Clovelly soils, which enhance the complexity of the wine. The vines benefit from long sun exposure, receiving 11.5 hours of sunshine during the growing season​.

The 2018 vintage spent 18 months in oak, contributing to its rich tannins and complexity. This wine has excellent aging potential and can be cellared for another 6 to 15 years​.

The fermentation took place in both open and closed tanks at a controlled temperature of 25°C, with regular pumping over every six hours to maximize extraction of color and tannins. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 40% of which were new French oak from coopers Taransaud, Darnajou, and Sylvain​.
