Description
The 2017 vintage of Vergelegen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep, almost opaque color. On the nose, it offers rich aromas of black currants, ripe plums, and complex spice notes. The palate reveals layers of dark berry fruit, cedar, and a balanced, well-integrated oak character due to its time in French barrels. The tannins are firm yet refined, contributing to a smooth and structured finish. It's an elegant wine with both power and finesse, starting to develop secondary earthy and woody nuances.
Food Pairing
This bold and structured Cabernet Sauvignon pairs excellently with rich meat dishes such as lamb, sirloin steak, and beef tagine. It also complements Mediterranean-inspired dishes like moussaka and grilled meats.
