This empowerment project has a long-term aim, bringing vineyard ownership to residents of Cape Town’s Townships through school-owned premium vineyards. In the shorter term, selected rows of vines in blocks close to the Ocean (and the townships) provide the fruit for current ranges. The proceeds of this wine will support the entrance to tertiary education for a needy child, one who would otherwise be denied.
Description
The Cape’s Atlantic seaboard influence is highly sought-after for a specific style of Sauvignon Blanc; firm in mouthfeel, rich and racy. The grapes for this wine were harvested in Durbanville, Cape Town. The chief influence on the flavour and wine structure is the regular afternoon on-shore summer breeze originating over the very cold Atlantic. The velocity of this wind is seldom more than 15 kph.
