Talenti
Talenti is a gorgeous estate located in one of the world's most picturesque regions - the valley of the river Orcia, south of the legendary hill town of Montalcino, near the beautiful (and beautifully preserved) medieval monastery of Sant'Antimo, where if you were lucky, you might still hear the monks singing beneath the ancient Romanesque arches of the church built in the early 12th century: they continue to do so every day. Azienda Talenti was established by Pierliugi Talenti in 1981. The estate is an idyllic 40 hectares, including about 20 hectares of vines. The rest is olives, cereal crops, and natural woods. The place has a profound sense of remoteness and calm.
Description
A terrific first look at the benchmark 2016 Brunello vintage, this ’16 Rosso di Montalcino layers its juicy red and blue fruits with warm loam, melted chocolate, pressed violet petals, crushed minerals, and baking spices. Lush yet nimble, this easy-to-drink Rosso di Montalcino offers immediate satisfaction, with great aromatics, a nicely tannic spine, electric acidity, and unexpected complexity. Talenti’s Rosso di Montalcino acts like a little brother to the estate’s classic Brunello; it has all of the Brunello’s characteristics shown on a slightly smaller scale. Made from grapes harvested from younger Brunello vines, Talenti’s Rosso di Montalcino matures for eight months in a combination of oak tonneaux and barriques and for four months in bottle.
