Taaibosch
Our Estate is situated at an altitude of between 250 and 380 metres above sea level and is located 7.5 km from the False Bay shoreline, to the South. Altitude and proximity to the Antarctic currents of the Atlantic Ocean, allows for natural cooling. It is the exposure to this unhindered inland movement of cool air during the summer months, which contributes to the slow, even ripening of our grapes. These prevailing sea breezes have an additional benefit of protecting the health of our vines throughout the year. Making wines that embody origin is the ultimate outcome we strive for. We also respect nature and the preservation thereof; it is thus an endeavour of our team to rehabilitate the flora of this estate to that which is indigenous to the Cape, so as to maintain a balance between our natural environment and agriculture.
Description
The wine displays a deep ruby red color and offers a rich bouquet of blackberries, black cherries, and cassis on the nose, accompanied by subtle herbal notes, cedar, and violets. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with flavors of ripe dark fruits, dark chocolate, and a hint of spice, all balanced by smooth tannins and refreshing acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish.
Food Pairing
This versatile wine pairs beautifully with dishes like grilled lamb chops, beef tenderloin, and mushroom risotto, as well as aged cheeses such as cheddar and gouda. Its balanced acidity and structured tannins make it an excellent match for hearty meals and rich sauces.
