Sijnn
A beautiful pioneering wine estate in the middle of nowhere at the end of a long, dusty, bumpy road at the Southern tip of Africa. When David and Rita Trafford visited the Malgas region for the first time in 2000, they were blown away with the incredible soils specifically in the Lemoentuin area and immediately set about finding a suitable property to purchase. Today, Sijnn Wines are grown in Malgas along the Breede River - the only first growth appellation in the region.
Description
A vibrant deep red colour. A beautiful and complex nose of savoury, fynbos, earthy and red plum flavours. A lovely vibrant freshness and tension to the nose and palate. There is a mysterious red fruit meets olive brine and slate character. One picks up many earth and soil notes, many herbal and spice contributions. It is inky and wild but has a beautiful freshness, and concentration of cassis, blueberry fruit on the mid palate. Stony character and minerality lingers long after the first sip. It is elegantly powerful with a youthful freshness, yet a deep concentration, and a firm structured tannin profile, making sure this wine will last for many years. The dry finish on the palate makes you want more.
Food Pairing
This wine will go with any red meat dish, particularly rich dishes, and most well aged cheese.
