The Sadie's two wines Columella and Palladius originate in the soils in the Swartland region which stretches north of Cape Town between Durbanville and Piketberg inland from the Atlantic Ocean and centered on the town of Malmesbury. Importantly the area has a remarkably stable climate allowing a consistent level of quality each year in subtly different vintage conditions.
Description
The 2024 Treinspoor unfolds with darker graphite and dried fig aromas that evolve in the glass to reveal delicate violets and perfume, finishing with an undercurrent of pencil lead. This lifted interpretation of Tinta Barocca shows a striking purple hue, dense multi-layered tannins, and a firm, enduring finish—a wine built for the long haul.
Food Pairing
Red meat is the obvious choice and the wine has a great affinity with duck as well as various game meats.
