Sadie Family Wines
The Sadie Family strives for wines that are fresh flavorsome refined harmonious and balanced and aims to offer drinking pleasure at the highest level of quality at any stage of a wine's life: the wine-drinker's eagerness for a further glass is their measure of achievement! The Sadie's two wines Columella and Palladius originate in the soils in the Swartland region which stretches north of Cape Town between Durbanville and Piketberg inland from the Atlantic Ocean and centered on the town of Malmesbury. Importantly the area has a remarkably stable climate allowing a consistent level of quality each year in subtly different vintage conditions.
Description
The purity and the focus of the Tinta Barocca grape place it in many ways above more fashionable varieties in terms of ultra-quality wine. The general aromatics are still closed up and the wine needs time to unfold, but the general brightness of the fruit and some serious black stone fruit aromatics suggest that much more is to come from this wine - it is currently but revealing only a fraction of its true personality. The lower alcohol, lifted tannin and acidity make for a very savoury finish and a wine that can truly age.
Food Pairing
Red meat is the obvious choice and the wine has a great affinity with duck as well as various game meats.
