Robert O’Callaghan (founder/winemaker) is one of the most important figures in contemporary Australian winemaking. He was early to recognise the future of regional definition the importance of heritage and the conservation of both physical and viticultural resources.
Description
The colour is medium to deep red with a faint trace of purple, the bouquet suggesting red licorice, aniseed and a trace of chocolate. In the mouth, it’s medium to full-bodied, approachable now, with just a light sprinkle of silky tannins. There’s lovely depth of fruit-sweet, spicy flavour and good persistence. At four years, it’s still bright and fresh, a fruit-driven wine that drinks well now and will keep several years.
