Description
The 2020 vintage of Richard Kershaw's Clonal Selection Elgin Syrah presents a refined and elegant profile. Aromas of dried lucerne flowers, Japanese green pepper, toast, and allspice lead into a medium-bodied palate with a linear structure, soft powdery texture, and fresh acidity. Flavors of black raspberry, crushed black peppercorns, wild lavender, dried orange peel, and rosemary are complemented by notes of Madagascan vanilla and Colombian coffee grounds. The wine exhibits a tight structure with fine, sweet yet grippy tannins, and a long, satisfying finish.
Food Pairing
This Syrah pairs well with grilled lamb chops, lamb shawarma, Greek gyros with tzatziki, charcoal-grilled pork shoulder with fresh herbs and garlic, and pork with black bean chili. Its fruitiness balances the heat in spicy dishes, while its acidity complements rich meats.
