Sangiovese

This medium-bodied wine pairs well with dishes featuring tomato-based sauces, such as pizza and pasta, complementing its natural acidity and savory notes.

All grapes were handpicked to ensure optimal quality.

The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and a brief settling period before being aged in a combination of 225-liter French and Hungarian oak barrels.

After sorting, the grapes were inoculated with the BM 45 yeast strain. The juice was pumped over the skins 3-5 times per day for 5 days to enhance extraction. Following fermentation, the wine was drained off the primary lees and transferred to a resting tank. Malolactic fermentation and a brief settling period preceded aging in a combination of 225-liter French and Hungarian oak barrels.

The wine was named after Raka, the beloved fishing boat of Piet Dreyer, proprietor of Raka wines. For more than three decades Piet has plied the seas of the southern ocean in search of the finest catch. The same passion has found home at Raka, where the Dreyer family now pursue the earth's bounty for the creation of fine wines.
