The wine show a gorgeous black to purple colour. On the nose, aromas of black currants, crème de cassis, liquorice are in the forefront, followed by fragrant aromas of dried flowers and black peppercorns. The wine is very complex, with present tannins that are well-integrated with a polished finesse. On the palate, the sheer size of the wine is evident. The tannin, fruit, alcohol, and oak give this wine great elegance, body and weight.

This past winter brought colder temperatures and significantly higher rainfall compared to the previous season. The abundant precipitation replenished vital water resources, while the sustained cold played a crucial role in accumulating enough chill for plants to break dormancy properly. Spring arrived with lingering coolness and wet conditions. This delayed the initial burst of bud break and plant growth, but it also ensured a more even distribution across different areas. As November approached, warmer temperatures kicked in, accelerating shoot and leaf development. By summer, the weather had transitioned to warmer conditions.

Paserene

Paserene is a small family operated winery owned by Martin Smith and Ndabe Mareda the sole purpose of which is to produce high-end luxury wines. Great care was given to ensure that the wines produced and artwork on the labels are truly authentic to its “sense of place and people” and will guarantee a lasting legacy. The name Paserene comes from the Latin word Passeriformes the order of traveling and free birds containing swifts and swallows. Paserene is situated in the quaint town of Franschhoek and is home to their award-winning wine range. A professional and contemporary tasting lounge is situated on the property.
