Chenin Blanc Verdelho 1.5L

The grapes were whole bunch basket-pressed, allowing some air to partly oxidise the juice. Settling took place without enzymes or sulphur for a day before racking to old, 400L and 225L French oak barrels for natural fermentation and maturation. Some fine lees were added back to the juice in barrel to allow more complex characters to develop during it’s time in barrel.

Old vine Chenin blanc bushvines from the Swartland planted in 1979, grown on decomposed granite and sand, as well as from Bot River planted in 1982, on shale and clay. Verdelho grown in the Swartland on decomposed granite and sand.

10 months in old 400L and 225L French oak barrels. 100% malolactic fermentation.
