Sauvignon Blanc

The grapes were handpicked at phenolic ripeness and stored at 10°C. The bunches were hand sorted before being pressed, maintaining a temperature of 10°C. The juice was fermented and matured for 9 months in 25% new French Acacia barrels, 25% in 2nd fill French Oak Barrels and 50% in Stainless steal tank to allow complexity to develop. During fermentation and ageing, the lees were regularly stirred up in order to protect the delicate fruit and floral aromas and to improve the mouthfeel of the wine.

A very good vintage at Marianne Wine Estate, where production team focused on fine tuning their craft to produce elegant fine wines. Due to the previous years drought but sufficient rainfall during preceding winter, the vintage produced slightly lower yields due to smaller bunches, however grape berries showed good acidity and elegant fruit aromas. Cooler conditions during March also allowed for slower ripening and accordingly softer tannins in grapes and wines. The final result being a fruit driven, well balanced, elegant wine vintage for Marianne Estate.
