Koedoe Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine pairs beautifully with succulent “Lowerland Rietskaap” lamb’s neck or any hearty stew.

Wood matured for 8 months and minimal SO2 added before bottling in November 2020. Bottle aged a further 18 months before release in June 2023.

Grapes were destemmed and pressed through once a day during natural fermentation. Grapes are handled minimally and softly. After fermentation, grapes were pressed lightly and taken to old French oak barrels the next day.

We produce small batches of natural wines in a remote, semi-arid, high altitude region of South Africa. Lowerland is a mixed, holistic, family farm that produces a range of soil to soul products in a holistic, integrated flow. Vineyards are certified organic with Ecocert. We collaborate with winemakers who employ natural, Old World techniques such as whole bunch and natural fermentation, basket pressing, manual pump-overs, and gentle maturation in older French oak.
