La Motte is a Franschhoek wine estate with a long-standing reputation for classic South African wines and Cape heritage. Known for Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah and elegant red blends, the estate combines Franschhoek character with a polished, food-friendly style.
Description
Although high in yield this season, the Elim grapes produced intense colour and aroma — another good expression from some of the most southerly vineyards in Africa. Mulberry fruit and pepper spice are prominent, while integrated oak gives depth on the nose. Soft, silky and easy on the palate, with finesse and freshness on the finish.
Food Pairing
This red-and-white blend with its rich, fruity style is a versatile partner to food, as the structure and spice of the Syrah, as well as the floral nuances of the Viognier, allow it to complement beef, venison and charcuterie, aromatic curries, game birds such as quail and duck, as well as reduced fruit flavours, fruit also latches onto the sweetness in jellies, chutneys and berry sauces.
