The 2015 vintage started with a warmer than usual spring followed by early, but even, flowering and fruitset. Frost, particularly in the Northern Barossa reduced yields however the conditions during fruit ripening were pleasingly mild and dry with rain in midJanuary brining some welcome relief. Shiraz was first picked in the Krondorf area on 12 February and finished on 17 March in Eden Valley.

100% barrel matured for 20 months with 55% new fine grain French oak hogsheads (300 litre) and the balance 2 and 3 and 4 year old hogsheads.

Fermentation with submerged cap in small stainless steel fermenters. Some batches had up to 2 weeks on skins.

His accolades include being named UK Wine and Spirit Competition's International Winemaker of the Year Red Winemaker of the Year (twice) and receiving Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year award. In 2003 John embarked on his own label John Duval Wines inspired by the best of the Barossa Valley's low-yielding old vine vineyards. With a deft touch he crafts intense wines that are as complex and distinctive as the diverse terroir of his treasured Barossa Valley.
