Iona
Iona is the coolest vineyard in the Cape 420m above sea-level high above the picturesque Elgin Valley. It is surrounded by the Kogelberg Nature Reserve and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean in the South. In a country where cool sites are precious these vineyards are like gold — the grapes ripening up to two months later than other Cape vineyards and in perfect balance.
Description
The 2023 vintage of Iona Badbay Chardonnay presents a beautifully poised expression of the varietal. The nose offers notes of citrus and blossom, followed by aromas of white peach, pear, green apple, and a subtle hint of maritime salinity. On the palate, the wine is textured yet vibrant and fresh, culminating in a delicate and lingering finish.

This Chardonnay pairs excellently with seafood and shellfish, such as oysters with a squeeze of lemon, complementing its fresh and saline character.
