Indlovu Gin is a unique South African gin brand known for using botanicals sourced from elephant dung. The idea was conceived by Paula Ansley during a safari in Kenya. Together with her husband Les Ansley, they started producing Indlovu Gin, which means "elephant" in several African languages. The dung is collected, cleansed, and dried to extract botanicals that are then infused into the gin, providing a distinctive flavour profile that varies by season due to the elephants' diet. This process also allows each batch of gin to have its own unique taste, akin to wine vintages. The company commits to conservation efforts by donating 15% of their profits to wildlife projects, including the Africa Foundation for the Phinda Wildlife Project.

Indlovu Gin offers a distinct and adventurous flavour profile that is as intriguing as its unique botanical sourcing method. The gin is crystal clear with a golden tint and begins with a fresh aroma of juniper and citrus, layered over a base of grassy and earthy notes that hint at its wild origins. The palate is a blend of classic gin flavours like juniper and angelica, with a spicy kick from foraged botanicals, creating a complex and earthy taste that mirrors the diverse diet of elephants. The finish is smooth, balanced, and creamy, leaving an elegant aftertaste that invites contemplation of the serene African landscape. Each batch's unique character and the sustainable harvesting of botanicals from elephant dung make Indlovu Gin a remarkable spirit that embodies the essence of Africa.
