At 16-18˚C, with robust red meat dishes, oxtail and roast beef.

Mediterranean - The summers are hot and dry with cold, wet winters. Supplementary irrigation during summer. Well-drained gravel soils with coffee stone.

After malolactic fermentation, aged for 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels.

Hand-selected quality grapes are harvested at full ripeness (25˚B). The crushed grapes are inoculated with pure yeast and fermented dry at 26 - 28 ˚C. The grapes are then pressed.

Groenland has been in family ownership for four generations. The late owner and winemaker, since 1975, was Kosie Steenkamp. Kosie's son Piet joined the Groenland team in 2001 as assistant winemaker and viticulturist. Piet has since taken over the reins on Groenland after the passing of his father, Kosie Steenkamp, in June 2020. The estate has achieved its status as a producer of distinguished red and white wines thanks to continuous research and development for a period of longer than 85 years. Some of the reasons for Groenlands success is because of the dedication and dynamic co-operation of the family members involved with the estate. The farm consists of 190 hectares, of which 150 hectares are under vine. We produce approximately 80% red and 20% white cultivars. The vineyards deliver more than 1500 tons of grapes every year.
