Groenland Wyne
Groenland has been in family ownership for four generations. The late owner and winemaker, since 1975, was Kosie Steenkamp. Kosie's son Piet joined the Groenland team in 2001 as assistant winemaker and viticulturist. Piet has since taken over the reins on Groenland after the passing of his father, Kosie Steenkamp, in June 2020. The estate has achieved its status as a producer of distinguished red and white wines thanks to continuous research and development for a period of longer than 85 years. Some of the reasons for Groenlands success is because of the dedication and dynamic co-operation of the family members involved with the estate. The farm consists of 190 hectares, of which 150 hectares are under vine. We produce approximately 80% red and 20% white cultivars. The vineyards deliver more than 1500 tons of grapes every year.
Description
A well-structured blend, combining the specific characteristics of each of the components to form a full, complex wine. Hints of vanilla, chocolate and wood smoke on the nose are followed by layers of fruit in this deep-red wine. Blend of Shiraz, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon (1/3 each) and named after Kosie and Heléne Steenkamp’s two daughters.
Food Pairing
At 16-18˚C, with roast lamb, hard yellow cheeses and beef.
