Grenache

Peppered with notes of cinnamon that cut through the candied red fruit roll up character of this cultivar, Grenache is a medium to full bodied wine with a deceptively light colour. The cultivar has been in decline since the 1980's but is still regarded as one of the most widely planted red grape varietals in the world. The wines produced usually lack structure and so are often blended with other cultivars such as Syrah, Carignan, Tempranillo and Cinsaut. Perhaps the most famous instances of Grenache are where it is blended with Shiraz and Mourvedre in a classic SMG style. This sweet and tepid red grape is also ideal for fortification and the production of Port- style wines. Browse our Grenache wine selection online and order the right wine for you.
