Glen Carlou
Glen Carlou is a Simonsberg-Paarl wine estate known for Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and classic South African red blends. With vineyards rooted in granite, quartz and koffieklip soils, the estate produces wines shaped by site, structure and a long-standing focus on balance.
Description
The 2021 Glen Carlou Syrah presents upfront berry fruits with a lavender-perfumed background, supported by sweet warm spices. Subtle black peppercorn, cumin, and a hint of star anise add complexity to the aromatics. The palate reveals wonderfully structured tannins, leading to a well-balanced wine with an unmistakable Rhône reference. Preservation of good natural acidity lends outstanding freshness to the harmonious yet bold mid-palate. Winemaker Johnnie Calitz describes it as "another great vintage for Glen Carlou Syrah!"
