Genevieve
Genevieve Wines is a boutique South African wine producer best known for its Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) sparkling wines. The brand was founded by Melissa Genevieve Nelson, one of the first female winemakers in South Africa to focus exclusively on sparkling wine production. Melissa Nelson trained at Elsenburg Agricultural College and later worked at several prestigious wineries in South Africa and internationally before launching her own label. Her vision for Genevieve Wines was to create elegant, terroir-driven sparkling wines that reflect the cool-climate vineyards of the Western Cape. The wines are produced using the traditional method (Méthode Cap Classique) — the same technique used in Champagne — where the secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle. The portfolio includes several styles of sparkling wines, often based on classic Champagne varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Description
A refined vintage exhibiting a light green-gold reflection in the glass. The nose presents citrus, white floral notes, and hints of fresh pear, complemented by an appetizing complexity of hazelnut and minerality. On the palate, the wine offers a delicate and delectable character.
Food Pairing
Fish: High acidity of the Cap Classique refreshes the palate. Oysters: The minerality of Blanc de Blancs echoes the briny freshness of oysters, creating a match. Pasta Dishes: Creamy pasta dishes are balanced by the acidity and effervescence of the Cap Classique. Aged Cheese: Cap Classique’s acidity cuts through the cheese’s richness. Goat Cheese: The effervescent texture complements the cheese’s softness
