Du Toitskloof Wines
Iconic moments happen around tables. Over the past few decades, Du Toitskloof has earned and enjoyed a profound place at South African tables. Du Toitskloof Wines sources the majority of their grapes for their ranges from the Breedekloof valley, all within a 10km radius of the cellar. This sees to it that all the grapes share similar soil types and micro-climates. With a large array of different terroirs, the cellar makes wine with grapes that have grown along cool mountain slopes, in alluvial soils with high water-retention capabilities as well as sandy and rocky soils.
Description
Block no.20 (aka ‘Oupa’) delivers spectacular grapes with fresh aromas of citrus, herbs and Cape gooseberries. Tropical fruity notes such as kiwi and guava are well balanced with subtle wood nuances that continue to blend in with the wine’s intense complexity from spending 100 days on the lees. The ideal levels of acidity ensure that the wine delivers a cacophony of flavours.
Food Pairing
Set the mood with crisp table linen, Cape salmon, citrus gremolata and asparagus tempura. This Sauvignon Blanc from 35-year old vines plays off goat cheese soufflé’s creaminess. It calls for a little summer salad of heirloom tomato, cling peaches and burrata or roasted butternut with fennel and fried sage.
