Chardonnay

Asian food, any seafood especially mussels, roast chicken, fresh garden green salad.

2020 harvest resulted in some exceptional conditions for white wine. An abundance of cool weather during winter and spring. A slow growing season resulted in berries full of flavour with lower sugar levels.

The wine matured in barrel on the gross lees for 12 months.

The grapes were all handpicked on four different occasions to bring more complexity to the profile. All grapes are whole bunch pressed in the cellar. We were using 300l French oak barrels of which 15% was new oak for this wine. Wine went through malolactic fermentation all naturally given the wine good texture and mouthfeel.

To honour the original farm, our lifestyle range of wines bears the Dombeya name. The Dombeya tree, native to South Africa, has extraordinarily beautiful flowers which herald in South Africa’s spring season. Dotted around our vineyards these trees embrace the cycle of regeneration and renewal, a fitting symbol of modern-day South Africa. Our Dombeya portfolio consists of 5 wines; a varietal range of Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and a Reserve range with Boulder Road Shiraz and the Bordeaux-style Fenix.
