"A pleasant surprise to emerge from my blind tastings, the 2016 Saint Joseph Madone shows knockout aromas of violets, cracked pepper and Provençal herbs, plus blackberries and blueberries. This medium to full-bodied wine is more about complexity and nuance than raw power, as the tannins are silky and just-ripe rather than extracted and creamy, and the finish is long and vibrant. Lovely stuff from organically farmed vines more than 50 years old." WA
