Domaine de Vernus
Domaine de Vernus, created in 2019, is located in the heart of the vineyards, in the municipality of Régnié-Durette a hamlet of Vernus. It covers an area just over 12 hectares of vines. The plots have been meticulously selected according to their location, the quality of the soil and the health of the plants. At Domaine de Vernus, Frédéric Jametton and Guillaume Rouget have joined forces to produce only red wines, mostly Crus, using healthy and sustainable viticulture practices and approaches. Beaujolais-Villages Régnié Morgon Chiroubles Fleurie Moulin-à-Vent The wines of the estate are made from the unique and emblematic grape variety of the region – Gamay Noir au jus blanc. The average age of the vines range between 55 – 60 years old and they are pruned in the traditional goblet style, without trellising. Work in the vineyard is incredibly meticulous, using horse-driven ploughs and hand harvesting. Yields are also kept low, between 35 to 45 hectolitres per hectare.
Description
This high-altitude terroir has the highest vines in Beaujolais. It's a guarantee of freshness in today's changing climate. On these steep slopes, the vines undergo arduous, meticulous work. The wine has a very delicate nose, with notes of black fruit mixed with floral aromas. The palate is round and pleasant, with the same blackberry notes detected on the nose. The finish is fine and elegantly acidic.
