Six generations of Louws have practiced the art of winemaking at Diemersdal since the Estate passed into their hands in 1885. More than 12 decades later Diemersdal is a well-known landmark in the lush Durbanville Valley one of the Cape’s oldest wine regions. Diemersdal forms part of the Wine of Origin Cape Town where cooling mists from the Atlantic Ocean roll over the vineyards every afternoon contributing to the unique character of Diemersdal wines.
Description
The Diemersdal Shiraz 2023 has a complex nose with aromas of black and white pepper, pomegranate, cigar box, cloves, and spice. On the palate, vibrant red fruit, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate flavors dominate, complemented by well-integrated oak. The wine has a long, spicy finish, supported by a robust structure that suggests it will develop for years.
Food Pairing
This Shiraz pairs excellently with bold and spicy red meat dishes, such as venison, as well as strongly flavored, harder cheeses.
