Château La Tour de Mons
Nestled between the mountains for the north and Mediterranean Sea to the south, Bandol is a striking, tranquil Provencal landscape. Domaine de la Tour Bon owes its name to the watchtower which once stood atop the domaine, and sits at altitude (the highest in the AOC) on a limestone plateau in Le Brûlat du Castellet. They benefit from maritime breezes funnelling into an amphitheatre of arid red earth, clay, sand and gravel on a bedrock of limestone. The domaine has been under ownership of the Hocquard family since 1968, with Agnes Henry at the helm today. They have organic certification in managing their 14ha of vines. They have achieved worldwide acclaim, producing wines of structure and tension, precision and charm. Across the Blanc, Rose and Rouge the limestone lends complexity, length and cellar potential.
Description
The 2016 Marquis de Mons, the second wine of Château La Tour de Mons, exhibits a deep, dark color. The nose is complex, offering aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and plum, complemented by well-integrated woody notes. On the palate, it presents a frank attack with a dense and smooth structure. The finish is fresh, long, and persistent, underscored by very delicate tannins.
Food Pairing
This Margaux pairs well with beef, lamb, poultry, and game (deer, venison). Its balanced acidity and tannic structure complement rich and savory dishes.
