Carricante

An ancient white wine grape variety from Sicily which has been grown on the slopes of mount Etna for a thousand years. The name is derived from the Italian for 'load' in reference to the vines vigourous tendancies. Generally the wines produced are higher in acidity especially if the grapes are harvested too early. As a guide though Carricante offers a broad range of citrus aromas, refreshing herbal notes and mineral characterisitics. The acidity adds green apple and honey comes with lees contact. Browse our Carricante wine selection online and order the right wine for you.
