Nero D'Avola

This wine pairs well with flavorful dishes, such as Italian tomato-based meals like lasagne, roasted aubergine salad, grilled steak, and aromatic curries. Its vibrant acidity and fruity profile complement a variety of rich and savory foods​.

The grapes for this wine are grown in the Bovlei Valley on the farm Naby, where the vines were first planted in 2011. The vineyard's warm, dry climate, similar to that of Sicily, suits the Nero d'Avola variety perfectly, enabling it to thrive and develop concentrated flavors​.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in a combination of new and older French oak barrels, which helps to integrate the flavors and add complexity​.

The wine is made with careful attention to preserving the natural characteristics of the Nero d'Avola grape. Grapes are hand-picked, destemmed, and allowed to macerate on the skins for two days before fermentation.

The Bosman family have a history of growing wine in the Bovlei of Wellington, dating back to 1810. Throughout eight generations they have worked hard to create a better life for all who live and work on the farm, rising to challenges and finding solutions, often in the unexpected. Wine is made in their historic 260 year old cellar, but their approach is progressive and innovative: a plant improvement unit ensures that Bosman remains at the forefront of the development of new, clean plant material and varietals; while their vine nursery ensures a continuous supply of healthy rootstock and vines.
