The grapes used for this Cape Vintage Port are sourced from selected vineyards in the Robertson region, which are planted on a mix of limestone and alluvial soils. These soils, along with the region's dry climate, contribute to the concentrated fruit flavors and the natural acidity that balance the sweetness in the wine. The vineyards are managed with sustainable farming practices, focusing on the health of the vines and the quality of the fruit. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure the desired sugar levels and flavor intensity.

After hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo a rigorous sorting process to ensure only the highest quality fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in open tanks, and during fermentation, the must is regularly punched down to extract color, flavor, and tannins. The fermentation process is halted by adding grape spirit, which fortifies the wine, resulting in higher alcohol content and preserving natural sweetness.
